The Mount Pleasant High School boys’ basketball program had a standout showing at the Rhode Island Basketball Coaches Association (RIBCA) 2024-25 Awards Banquet, with multiple student-athletes receiving top honors for their performances on the court and in the classroom.
All-Division Selections
Two Mount Pleasant players earned spots on the prestigious Division-1 All-League teams:
• Ozell Collins (Sr.) – Named to the 1st Team All-Division 1, recognizing his exceptional skills and leadership on the court.
• Benjamin Mordan (Jr.) – Earned a 2nd Team All-Division 1 selection, showcasing his talent and potential as a key player for the program.
Scholarship Winners
Beyond their athletic achievements, Mount Pleasant athletes were also recognized for their academic excellence and community impact, earning multiple scholarship awards.
IAABO-84 Scholarship Awards (Presented by the Rhode Island Board of Referee-Officials)
• Jaylin Robertson – Won the top scholarship for IAABO-84, recognizing his hard work both in the classroom and on the court.
• Ozell Collins – Awarded the 2nd IAABO-84 scholarship, adding another prestigious honor to his impressive high school career.
RIBCA Scholarship Awards
• Ozell Collins – Recipient of the Harold Metts Scholarship Award, an honor given to student-athletes who exemplify excellence in academics and athletics.
• Jaylin Robertson – Awarded the Jerry Morgan Scholarship Award, highlighting his dedication to both education and basketball.
Both student-athletes received financial scholarships to assist with their post-secondary education goals, reinforcing the importance of academic success alongside athletic achievements.
